amiina - kurr

the first full-length album from this icelandic quintet is heavily instrumental. horns, chimes, xylophones, and strings form the basis of the sounds idiosyncratic to iceland as started by groups like sigur ros and mum. very relaxed and lush, but informed with tedious melodic structure.

Mountains - Sewn

One of my favorite ambient-esque albums of all time. Ethereal melodic textures collide with field-recorded soundscapes woven between somber acoustic guitar interludes in Mountains' second release, Sewn. Amazing for that contemplative bullshit or just to fall asleep to, this record comes highly recommended.
